Once again, I am playing catch up! Our internet has been almost non-existant for the last couple of weeks. We finally called on our internet 'guy'. He had to adjust the dish. We haven't seen any substantial rain for almost three months so the ground is very dry and it's shifting and the pole that the dish is on must have moved. But we are back in business and I have a lot to tell you.
A couple of weeks after my brother and family went back home, very good friend, Squid and his daughter Cheri Lee arrived. This is the third time that they have come to see us in Belize so they hardly even seem like 'guests' anymore. We are getting pretty comfortable having them around! Just like old, worn flip flops....I'm kidding! We love having them here!

Before they even got here, they decided that they didn't really want to do a lot. I guess with this being the third trip it could get to be a little 'been there, done that'. So, we didn't make a whole lot of plans. And I hate to admit it but our last guests of the year always get a little less from us. Frankly, we are just tired and a bit burnt out from doing all the tourist stuff. So, I have to be honest and say I was grateful that Squid and Cheri Lee seemed happy to keep things low key.
Not to say that we didn't do anything. Last year, when they were here, we were still in the construction phase with the pool. So everything that we've done outside is new to them. With the pool, the patio, and the kitchen we've got our own mini-resort going. Not a bad place to hang out for a few days. And we did a fair bit of hanging out.
Cheri Lee and I did a bit of touring around but is was mainly day to day stuff...market, groceries, bakery, a few trips for beer. We also ate out on a pretty regular basis. Got in a trip to Spanish Lookout and bought a few things for the house.
I have to say that a highlight me me was the morning that Cheri Lee and I headed off to Xunantunich on our own. Xunantunich is the large Mayan city about fifteen minutes from our place. We took advantage of a little cloud cover one morning. It can get crazy hot at the site so the cloud was very appreciated. This was Cheri Lee's third visit and I've lost count so when we got there, we found a spot with a view of the city that was to die for and we settled in and had a great visit. To be able to just sit with a very good friend and absorb the magic of this ancient Mayan city is truly amazing. And for good measure, we saw howler monkeys and many iguanas!
