Weird, bulby cactus flower on the property. Another one of the 'look but don't touch' variety!
I'm sitting on the patio, watching the sun disappear over the hills and enjoying the cool breeze. It's been hot lately and the cooling air is a real treat. One thing that we can usually count on is a gentle wind from the east. For the last week or so we haven't had any breeze. The air has been so still and that has made such a huge difference. Maybe Hurricane Isaac somehow sucked our wind up and took it to Florida. Oh well, it's back again and I am very grateful!
Today was a big exciting day of house work. Only two more days until Larissa gets here. It's not like she's a big judge of my house keeping skills but I still want things to be nice. And truthfully, the inside of the house has been pretty neglected. I've been happy to spend most of my time outside. So today was the day to vacuum, wash, and dust all the places that I've been discreetly averting my eyes from for the last few months. Now, the place shines. I'm not even afraid to turn the lights on at night!
Even Milo got washed today and then proceeded to roll in the first dirt pile that he could find!

I'm sitting outside writing. As it's getting darker I can hear the change from day to night all around me. The frogs are starting to come out of their daytime hiding places. We have a pond on the lower end of the property and it's coming alive with noise.
The parrots are done their evening fly-bys. Everyday, dawn and dusk, we can count on the flocks of parrots. Really incredible. And as the birds get tucked in for the night, the bats are starting to fly. Pretty soon I should be able to see the fireflies.
The geckos are starting to laugh. Geckos really do laugh. It actually sounds a lot like my laugh....hmmmmm. Although, I'm not sure what they have to laugh about. Adam has been gecko hunting for about a week now. I don't mind sharing my space with them but sometimes we just cross a line and they start to overstep the boundaries. So Adam goes on a killing rampage, gets the population under control and we are all happy again.
And the full moon is just creeping up over the horizon. Wow! I'm hoping for a clear night. A couple of nights ago, Adam and I were checking out the moon with his binoculars. I don't thing that I've even seen it with such clarity. Maybe the moon was making a tribute to Neil Armstrong. It was beautiful.
