Tracking Ernesto on it's way to Belize.
Here it is...August already. Seems like it was just May and I was getting ready to go see Larissa in Red Deer. I want to call this summer but 'Belizean Mona' knows that it's actually the rainy season. We don't have spring-summer-fall-winter here. It's dry or it's rainy. That doesn't really describe things very well either. We haven't seen any rain for well over a week. The days have been beautiful...hovering around 90F and sunny most of the time.
But, having said that, we are prepping for our first tropical storm of the season. Ernesto is expected to pay us a visit by about Tuesday next week. It's really crazy how much warning we get on these things. Thanks to satellites and the internet, we've been watching Ernesto for almost a week already. Gives us a chance to stock up and prepare. Not expecting anything major but we'd be foolish to ignore Mother Nature. If she decides to kick up her heels, we had better be ready. So, today we checked out the back up generator and started to tidy up the yard. Tomorrow, we'll stock up on gas, water and food.

Decided it was time to get some more pics from around town. Sometimes I really have to remind myself to grab the camera on the way out the door. There are some real efforts going on to spruce up downtown San Ignacio. This is one of the newest wall art features. I have to say that it's probably my favourite. The construction on the new town square and the visitor info centre is almost done, as well. Very nice. It's good to see Belize putting it's best foot forward for tourism. The potential is so huge for this beautiful little country.
On a sad note, our very good friend, Duane Mould, passed away last week. Duane and Judi are the kind special friends that a person is so blessed to have in a lifetime. We've known them almost 30 years and have had so many good times together. When we made the big decision to move to Belize, they had their plane tickets booked to visit even before we left Canada! Here is a pic of the four of us on Ambergris Caye in February of last year. You are very missed, Duane! Will love you always!
