Jennifer and Darryl are back home again now. They started the journey back a few days ago. We had a wonderful visit!
We thought that the best way to round out their vacation was with a few days on the coast. On Friday we packed up, jumped in the truck and drove to Placencia. Along the way, we stopped at St. Herman's cave and then had a really 'refreshing' swim in the inland Blue Hole. Mother Nature did a great job when she placed the swimming hole right near the cave. Very good planning!

The highlight of our Placencia visit was our day at Silk Caye. Silk Caye is a national marine park that located about an hour out from the coast. We booked the tour with Splash Dive Centre. Adam and I have booked quite a few trips with Splash and they have always done right by us. This is the first time that Adam has opted to snorkel instead of scuba dive. He kind of did that for my benefit. I'm not very comfortable in the water so I need a hand to hold when we snorkel! And even though Darryl has his dive ticket too, we all decided to snorkel.
The sun was shining and the water was clear. It was such a perfect day. Silk Caye is a little piece of Caribbean paradise. We saw so many fish and the colours of the coral were incredible. And no snorkel trip is complete without seeing sharks, rays, turtles (giant, monster turtles!!) and even dolphins on the way home!
After two snorkel excursions, BBQ lunch, and some beach time we were all sufficiently sunburned and tired. It was time for the boat ride back to the mainland. On the down side, when we got back to the hotel the water was turned off for 'maintenance'. Not what you want to hear after a day in the salty ocean! So, we did the only thing possible...sat on the deck and drank rum and coke! Eventually, the water came back on, we cleaned up and went out for dinner.

The next morning it was time for Jennifer and Darryl to begin their trip back home. They caught the Tropic Air flight to Belize City and then the big planes back to the wintery north! We had a wonderful time and a great holiday with great friends!
