The weather has finally turned amazing! I was almost starting to feel like I had to apologize to my Mom. I'm sure that she didn't have three weeks of rain in mind when she planned her trip to Belize. But the sun has been shining and we are getting in the pool everyday. We are almost at the end of her visit so hopefully this will be what she remembers!
We made a quick trip to Belmopan last week so that Mom could extend her visitor's visa at the Immigration office. That's a must-do after 30 days. It's a real pain that we don't have an Immigration office in San Igncacio. Belmopan is about 45 minutes away. Not so terrible for those of us lucky enough to have our own vehicle but what a nuisance for anyone that doesn't. Walking into the Immigration office brought back all sorts of memories of our monthly visits...before we had our official residency. I don't miss those trips one little bit!
On the plus side, the trip gave us an excuse to head down to the inland Blue Hole for a swim. It was very refreshing...that's code for cold! There once was a time that I could swim in water like that all day...not so much anymore. My Canadian is slipping away!

Even with Mom here, we've still been getting projects done around the house. Just small stuff. I've started painting the trim on the outside of the house. It was dark green before and it just blended into the dark wood. Now, it's a light moss-green and it pops out much better. I've done all the windows that I can reach so Adam has promised to buy me a ladder...maybe for Valentines Day...if I'm really lucky!
Just had to post this picture of Adam's view from behind the bar. I think I get why he doesn't mind being bartender!
Also been working on the yard. I'm not really happy with how the plants around the pool are coming along. So, I've been pruning and transplanting and replacing. We'll see...it's a work in progress. The beauty is that everything grows so fast. I don't have to wait long to see how it will look and if I don't like it I can start again!
Milo, in happier days...before 'the incident'!
On the down side of life Milo, my little dog, got beat up by a neighbour's dog a few days ago. It was scary for a little while but he seems to be very much on the mend now. As per usual it happened late Friday afternoon. You know, right after the vet's office closes for the weekend. I tended and nursed him and he seemed to be doing well but on Sunday night he took a bad turn. I called our vet and thankfully their office got back to me within half an hour and we took him in. They examined him and doped him up with all the right stuff. Within minutes he was so much better.
He'll still need some TLC for a while. He tries to hobble away from me whenever I come near him with salve or iodine or epsom salt bath. He must be feeling better! After living in Fort Nelson for so many years where we didn't have a local vet, I am so grateful to have vet facilities close by with such caring and competent staff. Thankfully, this story has a happy ending!
