Yesterday was a beautiful day...sunny and warm (almost hot!). We haven't seen enough of those lately. It seems like the rainy season has come to Belize a few months late.
So Mom and I decided to take advantage of the nice day and visit the Belize Botanical Gardens. The gardens are located at a resort not too far away, duPlooys Jungle Lodge. What a beautiful place! I went in armed with a note pad and my camera. I got lots of great ideas for planting in our yard. I'd like to plant a bunch of trees that will attract more birds. Our biggest challenge is too much sun (I know...I was just complaining about not enough sun!). But anything we plant has to be able to withstand a lot of heat and sun. At least until the big trees grow up and start doing their job.

So, we enjoyed a really nice day at duPlooys. Toured the gardens, had a great lunch, and wandered around the resort. Very nice. They even have a little beach area by the river. With a beach volleyball net set up. I thought that was pretty cool! They also rent canoes so a person can take a nice leisurely float down the Macal river back to town. Sounds like a great idea for the next sunny day!
