Cheers to our next year in Belize. I hope that it is filled with time with friends old and new, peace and time for reflection, and many warm sunny days to appreciate the beauty of this country.
I especially throw in the 'warm sunny days' thing because we have gotten so much rain in the last few months it feels like ark building time! Yup...this rain is getting pretty old.
Today we made a run out to Spanish Lookout, a nearby Mennonite community to pick up some tin for some roof modifications that we are doing. Just as we were getting back into Santa Elena we spotted a van in front of us. He was driving backwards down the one way street. Now, to his credit he was driving with the flow of traffic! This continues for about two blocks and then he turns the corner onto the bridge ...still backwards. This is one of the busiest sections of road in town as it's the only way into San Ignacio so lots of traffic. This guy is craning his neck out of his window because it's a cargo type van and he can't see out the back. When we get a little closer we can also see that he is dragging a chain from the bumper and has a flat tire! Sometimes you just have to wonder?!?!
