I think that I can finally say that the perfect Belize weather has arrived! It was kind of late this year but it found us. Might have just been holding off for my mom's arrival. Mom was been with us for almost two weeks now. We are becoming a regular stop on her winter travels. This is her third visit to Belize and I'm pretty sure that there are more in her future!
Mom started her winter holiday in Cancun with my Auntie Betty. Auntie Betty lives in Cancun and has for quite a few years. After a couple of weeks of the hustle of Cancun Mom was ready for the quiet of Belize so she hopped the overnight ADO bus to Belize City and we picked her up.

The ADO busses from Mexico really stand out in Belize. They are big, modern, shiny and new. Belize is still a country of 'chicken busses'. Now, in all fairness, I have never actually seen anyone pack a chicken onto one of these busses but you get the idea. Belize is where old school busses from the US come to retire and then die. Except they don't retire....they work and work and work! And then they die!
Mom got on the bus in Cancun on Tuesday evening and we were to pick her up on Wednesday morning. We are about a two hour drive from Belize City so we knew that we would have an early morning. I checked the ADO website to try to confirm the arrival time in Belize City. That went absolutely no where! Their website is completely in Spanish (acceptable) but they don't even list a bus to Belize. I know that I've seen it on there before but no luck this time. So we went on past experience and decided that it would likely get in around 6:30am. I hate being late for anything and I really didn't want to leave my mom waiting for us in the Belize City bus terminal at six in the morning so we left here at a little after three...AM! On the plus side, the traffic was very light!
On the down side, the bus didn't get in until 8:30am! Oh well, that's typical for here...unpredictable is predictable!

So, for the last couple of weeks we have been going through the motions of regular life. Mom's not really a tourist here anymore. She's content to enjoy the scenery, weather and follow us around on day to day stuff. We've spent time with friends and neighbours, made a day trip to Belmopan to check out a plant nursery, got a swim in at the inland Blue Hole, and made a couple of trips to Spanish Lookout to get the lawn tractor fixed. The usual stuff.
My life has been fairly routine. Can't quite say the same for Adam but I'll save that for another post. The computer is warming up and the pool is calling me. Time to get my face out of the laptop!
