Sent Larissa back to Edmonton this morning. Very sad. This is the first time that I don't know when I'll see her again. Hopefully, sometime in the summer but who knows. She graduates and has to get a real job. We do pretty well with email and Skype, though.
So far the trip has been good. No disasters but we are getting tired of being on the road. Enough hotels and restaurants. We kind of missed out on a lot of things on the west coast. The weather was terrible. We drove down a portion of the coastal highway in California but it stormed the whole way. We were lucky because they closed the road the next day because of slides! LA was really wet, too. It was breaking records for 24hr rainfall. But we toughed it out and made it to Disneyland, California Adventure and Universal. Every picture that we have is washed out by our bright yellow rain capes! Oh well!
After that we spent six days in Phoenix. We were only going to spend four but the weather was good and we really liked it. We swam in the outdoor pools and hiked in the desert. Milo almost made 'friends' with a pack of coyotes. It was too close for comfort. After that he had to stay on the leash. Being outside was great. We all needed it!
Then, because we were behind schedule, we had to drive two days across Arizona, little bit of New Mexico, and then Texas. Texas is very large with a whole lot of not very much in it! Tomorrow we pack up again and head to Houston.
We've changed our plans about driving though Mexico. We got old feet and decided to hire someone to take our truck and stuff. We are flying from Houston and will be in Belize on Sunday morning. Yah!!! It will be great to settle into 'home' for a while. Been thinking of everyone and hope that all is well! Tonight will be a quiet night for us. We were up at 3am to get Larissa to the airport. Adam is already snoring although he claims it's just a nap!
