I've been wanting to catch up with my blogging but our internet has been pokey for the last few days. Usually, our service is pretty good...not fast but at least reliable. We are on satellite so I blame it on an impending alien invasion. Their ships are circling Earth and interfering with our signal! Fortunately, they must not have found any intelligent life and moved on. We seem to be good again.
It's been almost two weeks since my brother, Doug, sister-in-law, Zinnia, and nephews, Zachary and Parker, left to go back home to Richmond. But I still haven't finished writing about their visit. So, here we go. When I last wrote we had tested out the pool (repeatedly!), visit Mayan sites and went cave tubing. Along with our day cave tubing, the boys decided to try out the zip line. We weren't sure if Zack would be big enough but the guides hardly batted an eye. I guess they see lots of kids. So, Zack and Parker geared up and started the climb to the first platform. A little bit nervous Zinnia followed them part of the way...to take pictures...yah, that's it, pictures! They did great...the boys in the air and Mom on the ground!

Our last few days together were spent in Placencia. Adam stayed home for this one. I think that he's left me at home three times and headed to the coast with different guests so this time it only seemed fair! Actually, we only had room in the truck for five and it's a little bit far to expect someone to ride in the back! We had three nights booked in cabanas at the Ranguana Lodge. First time that I've ever stayed there and it was really nice. I tried to get us the cabins right on the water but it was spring break week and things were very booked up. So, unfortunately we had to walk an extra 20 feet to the water. Such a burden!
Placencia was awesome as usual but the weather was very disappointing. We booked a trip to Laughing Bird Caye on our first full day there...just myself, Doug and Parker. Zinnia didn't like the looks of the weather so she and Zack opted to stay in town for the day. We should have trusted Zinnia's instincts! It was crazy windy! The boat ride out wasn't terrible but once we got to the island it felt like we were being sandblasted by the wind and beach! Doug and Parker went snorkelling. Their guide kept them to the sheltered side of the island and it sounds like it was pretty good. I stayed on shore, found a turned over log and hunkered in for the day. I drew on all my hunter survival training, adapted it for a tropical island in the Caribbean, and built a little shelter to protect myself from the fierce wind and blowing sand!
One more day in Placencia, a few trips to TuttiFrutti for 'THE WORLD'S BEST ICECREAM' and it was time to take everyone to the airport for the flight to Belize City and then on to Seattle.
I am so grateful to have had the chance to spend such great time with my family. We've always found it difficult to get together over the years so this was long overdue and so appreciated. Love you all!
