The last couple of weeks have been fairly quiet for us. We've settled back into our routine which included some time with friends, working in the yard, and some maintenance to the house.
The rain has still been pretty brutal and everyone is getting pretty tired of it. The roads are a disaster. Anyone who has been to Belize is probably thinking, 'Could they really have gotten any worse??'. Yah, they got worse. There are a couple of main bridges in our district that are still underwater so getting around has been a bit of a challenge. Not impossible, just inconvenient. But, it hasn't rained at all for two whole days and today was actually pretty darn nice. Maybe we are coming to the end????? My fingers are crossed!

The rainy weather has also made us sick. Well, maybe I can't totally blame the weather, but it does feel easier to succumb to a down day when it's raining and gloomy. Adam and I have both been feeling 'icky' (not the official medical term but it works) and I had a sinus headache that lasted about five days. A real kicker. That one I do blame on the weather. Barometric pressure or something like that. Or maybe it was just the usual pre-Christmas illness. That seems to happen every year. But we do seem to be on the up side and I'm pretty sure that we will survive.
So, the sun is shining today and it is the last Saturday before Christmas. Getting ready to head to market and then groceries and I suspect everything will be very busy. Not 'West Edmonton Mall at Christmas' kind of busy but still hopping by our standards! We are getting together with friends for a potluck on Christmas day and I'm in charge of the turkey so it will be coming out of the freezer today. After some running around town and stocking up on a few things, we should be all set for the holiday. Everything is so low key for us now and honestly I really like it. I always did Christmas big in Canada but I tried to never stress about it. Nothing makes me more crazy than the TV shows, commercials, and news clips about all the anxiety Christmas causes. If that's the case, then you are doing it wrong! Let go of what the media outlet and advertisers tell you Christmas should be like. They have their own agenda.

On that note, friends, enjoy the holidays...Christmas, New Years and all the lazy days in between. Focus on time with the ones that you love but don't forget to cherish and make time for yourself, too.
I've looked back through our photos from the last year and decided to try a slideshow feature on Weebly for the first time. Just move your cursor onto the photo and click PLAY to see the whole show or scroll through the little pics to find what you like. These are the faces and places that made 2013 a special year for us.
