We got the lawn tractor back together yesterday. It came with the house but it wasn't in the greatest condition. We shipped it off to the tin shop and the welder and it should be good again. This country is hard on equipment. Lots of humidity means lots of rust. We'll have to stay on top of that...I'll be ready with my steel brush and can of spray paint! Mowing the lawn (10 acres) actually falls to Jeff, the yard guy, but Adam had to try it out for a couple of hours. I think that he's had his fill. Jeff can have his job back.
Anyone from Fort Nelson that remembers my old lawn tractor will know that I kind of pimped it out! I put some thought into this one but it screams John Deere farm tractor. Put on the denim overalls and pass the straw hat! I'll think I'll just leave it as it is.

The rain hasn't started yet. It's hard to get a handle on what to expect. Everyone that we ask tells us something different. Some say it should have been raining a month ago and some say not until July. But everyone agrees that once it starts it will rain every day for months. Not sure what that means, either. Does it rain all day every day? A couple of hours and then it's nice and sunny? Who knows? We have been told to prepare for flooding. Not our house...our land is high and the house is right at the top of the hill. But the town has flooded before and the roads can be cut off. We'll stock the pantry and make sure that everything is topped off. Not too worried about it. It's just common sense stuff.
It's so dry but this is when the trees and plants all start coming to life. We have flowers all around the yard. I hope that this is just the start. So pretty and exotic. They have beautiful, flowering trees here called Flamboyants. Just the name should tell you that they are very colourful and flashy! We don't have any in the yard but we are going to check out the nurseries for them and plant a few.
