Here is my excuse for ignoring my blog so much this month. My BFF from Canada, Judi, was visiting. And we were so excited to have her here. For the last few of weeks we have been sight seeing, shopping, lunching (drinking), and reconnecting.
Judi and her husband, Duane, visited us in Belize just after we moved here almost three years ago. They booked the trip before we even left Fort Nelson! They have been our 'couple-friends' for close to thirty years. I feel old just typing that! So sad for all of us that Duane passed away just over a year ago and that makes our time with Judi even more special now.
On their last visit to Belize, Adam and I were still living in our rental home in Corozal so Cayo is new territory for Judi. And I was so happy to share our new home with her and play tourist a little bit too.
Thankfully the weather smartened up just as soon as Judi got here. We have had a really wet rainy season. Yah, I know...that's the whole point. But all of our complaining was recently justified with a report from the Belize Weather Service. We really did get way more rain than 'usual'. Of course, what is 'usual' anymore?

A couple of days into Judi's visit we decided to check out the Mayan site of Cahal Pech. This is not my first go around at an ancient Mayan site. I know that they can be very slippery after extended rain. The stones get slick with moss and can be pretty dangerous. So we let the sun do it's job for a few days and then we ventured out. It was so nice. For a while we had the place pretty much to ourselves which was nice for visiting and chatting.
But we did also notice that the tour groups are starting to show up. I think the word about Belize is out. And rightfully so. This beautiful little country has so much to offer.
And I am so glad to be able to share Belize with my best friend.
