We're still in Placencia. This is our last morning and then it's back to our busy, day to day, lives. Well, not quite because we still have Larissa with us for another six days. That's good.
Usually, when we are here we stay at a little motel right on the beach in town. It's comfortable but certainly not fancy. But it fits the budget. Seeing as how this is very off season we decided to take advantage of the lower rates and book into a more upscale resort. So, we are at Robert's Grove.
The resort offers quite a few activities that are included in the price so we made a commitment to ourselves to try everything! Larissa was very happy to find that they had a gym. Gyms are probably the least used amenity in any resort hotel but she gave this one a good go.

We also borrowed bicycles and headed to town a couple of times. It's about four miles each way. And we are talking full sun and 95F heat. On the positive side, Placencia is on a peninsula just a couple of feet above sea level and it's very flat so it was pretty easy riding.
Yesterday we stayed at the resort and decided to pick on the water toys guy. Alan, the caretaker of the boats and such, was very kind. Larissa and I were bumbling idiots! First thing we decided to take out was the pedal boat. Nice and easy, right? Not so much. It was early in the day and the water was choppy. It took us about three tries to get the boat in the water without flooding it. When we finally got going, we couldn't steer effectively and the waves kept crashing into us. We took on so much water that we were basically sunk by the time we made it back to shore! Not a great first effort.

We took a break to let the water calm down. Sure....let's blame the water!
And then our next adventure was the double kayaks. Success! We are masters of the double kayak! Although, I have to say that Larissa needs to work on her technique getting into the kayak! After kayaking, Adam joined us and he and Larissa went for a snorkel off the hotel pier. They didn't see much. Adam found a living sand dollar. It was kind of neat. We poked at it for a couple of minutes and sent it back into the water.

Next on the list was the Hobie Cat and the single kayak. So, Adam and Larissa went off and now we can say that we used all of the beach and water toys. Go, us!
After breakfast and maybe a short bike ride, we will be on our way home today. Mini vacations are great but home is always best. Miss my puppies.
