Here it is...our first day in our new house! We handled the last of the paperwork yesterday and it all went very smoothly. We got the keys and we we moved in at 8 o’clock this morning. It took about half an hour to get our few, meager belongings in. Easiest move ever! The house is mostly furnished so now it’s just a matter of organizing, decorating and making it our own.
For the last several weeks we’ve been planning and scheming things but now we will actually be able to start. We have stopped in so many hardware and furniture stores with ideas and dreams but we always walked away empty handed. It’s exciting to be at the point where we can do things!
Ken and Wendy will be here on April 29th. That’s just perfect. It gives us a bit of time to settled in and get the fridge filled. It will be wonderful to see them. And then, the same day that they leave we pick Larissa up at the airport. She is bringing Adam’s cat, Gracie with her. Larissa is so brave to be willing to travel with Gracie. She is kind of a cat from Hell. Even so, we miss her a lot and can’t wait to have her here. She might be a little baffled by the geckos at first but I think she’ll get the hang of it.
Speaking of pets...we bought a puppy yesterday. She (no name yet) is a pure bred german sheppard from a line of respected working dogs. We’ve decided that she will be Adam’s dog. I think that he’s looking forward to the opportunity to raise a puppy. After all, this is the first dog that we’ll of had so much time for and that can truly be an outside dog. Her job will be security. She will be our watch dog. It’s pretty common here and a good dog is the best deterrent against thieves. Of course, for right now, she isn’t all that threatening. She’s an adorable, six week old, ball of fur! We are picking her up on Saturday. That will give us one night in the house and then we are in for
some sleepless nights.
Milo is still doing great. This whole trip and adventure has been so good for him. He goes everywhere with us and handles every situation so well. He had some anxiety when we were going through the States...too many different hotels. But since we’ve been in Belize and have settled in some, he has been great. It will be good to have a home for all of us. Oh yah.... we haven’t told him about the new puppy yet. I suspect that he’ll be less than impressed! On the other hand, I know that he’ll be happy to see Gracie. They really do get along well.
