1. I can barely put a complete and coherent sentence together. I think this is a lazy thing. Real words and sentences are a lot of work and that goes against the reason that we are here! It's a good thing that Adam and I have been married so long and that we are going through this together! He is usually able to figure out what I'm trying to say! We've been playing chess to keeps our minds sharp. I even win sometimes!
2. I no longer wear makeup. This is one thing that I was looking forward to. For the first time in my life I feel that I'm getting a healthy amount of sun and vitamin D! The pasty white northern girl is hidden behind a nice bronze tan!
3. My wardrobe is made up of nothing but shorts and t-shirts. OK...I have a few dresses. I love the simplicity of dressing each morning. Everyday is hot and sunny so everyday I wear shorts and t-shirt. My feet haven't been restricted by socks or runners since we got here. That seems like some kind of foot binding torture!
4. I buy all my clothes at second hand stores. Belize has a great assortment of second hand clothing stores. They bring in huge containers of lightly used clothes from the US. It makes me feel more 'green' and the clothes are great!

5. Fresh juice does not mean opening a new carton of Minute Maid. We have been able to buy fruit off of the Mennonite farmer's wagon or even pick it from our own trees. Everything tastes so wonderful here. Everyday we eat papaya, mango, bananas....and on and on. So delicious!
6. I don't have to check my cell phone dozens of times a day.
7. Discovered that hammock naps are the best kind.
8. It's OK to shower three or four times a day to keep cool and refreshed. And I hardly ever touch the hot water tap. We collect our own rain water and our tank is out behind the house. The idea that we can see all of our water pipes and such is really weird. No need to worry about freezing.
9. Everyday seems really full but when I look back on what I did it doesn't seem like much. I take this to mean that we are adapting to a slower, more relaxed lifestyle. It's a very good thing!
10. Loving the idea that all the plants and flowers that I'm planting will continue to grow all year. I've put a lot of time into building our outdoor space. We do a lot of living under the house and it's looking really good. Seems so much more worth the effort when we can enjoy it year 'round. With the September long weekend right around the corner, I'm reminded that fall is just about 'there'! This will be our first full winter without winter.
