We are settling back into the hot months here again. It truly is a change of pace from the much cooler ‘winter’ months. Today the heat was just about oppressive. I didn’t check the thermometer much (doesn’t really make any difference) but I suspect we hung around 110F for a good part of the day. The air had a weight to it. On days like today, every penny spent on the pool was worth it! It’s about 5pm and cooling considerably. They are calling for rain and thunder and lightening tonight. The clouds are building but I’m not holding my breath. We get lots of ‘teaser’ clouds with no rain. But my fingers are crossed. Rain would be a very nice thing.
Last weekend Adam and I went to our very first Belize wedding. Actually, it’s the first wedding in a few years. Our friends and house sitters, Sharon and Nigel, got married and I have to thank them so much for including us on their special day. It was so beautiful. The wedding and reception were held at a local hotel, the Aguada. We’ve lunched at the Aguada a number of times and I’ve always thought it was a pretty place with a very lush garden but they absolutely outdid themselves with the decorations. All done up in red and white with flowing fabric and sparkling lighting. The wedding was held beside the pool and the dinner and reception were in the nearby restaurant cabana.
From what I could see, Belizean weddings are pretty much the same as Canadian weddings. Of course, Sharon is American and Nigel is Belizean so we may have seen a melting pot of traditions. Either way it was a wonderful event and I even got Adam up on the dance floor! That is really something special! So once again, thank you Sharon and Nigel!
