We spent with last three days in Placencia with Sheri and Victor. Talk about paradise! That little town is such a gem.
We drove down on Wednesday after leaving the house and dogs in the capable hands of our house sitters. It's about a three hour drive but we took our time and stopped at the Blue Hole and St. Herman's Cave. Unfortunately, the rivers are high from rainfall so we weren't able to go far into the cave and the Blue Hole was kind of a 'brown hole'. Oh well, next time!
On the way south towards Placencia and we stopped at Marie Sharp's Hot Sauce factory. She is main producer of hot sauce in Belize and her products are everywhere. So we stopped in at the gift shop and met a real nice lady who let us sample anything that we wanted. Turns out that Marie Sharp is a real lady but she wasn't in the office so we didn't get to meet her. Too bad! I would have gotten a kick out of that. On the other hand, Victor did get a really nice t-shirt....right, Sheri???

Once we got to Placencia we settled into our rooms at the Seaspray Hotel. We were directly on the beach and only feet from the water. It's slow season so we just about had the place to ourselves. Most of the time we could look up and down the beach and not see another soul. Wow! They only draw back was that most of the restaurants in town are closed until next month but we still found some great food and the peacefulness was well worth it!
Day one was spent chillin' on the beach. It was so perfect! The next day we booked a tour out to a tiny island called Silk Caye. Silk Caye is everything that a tiny island in the Caribbean should be. 'Beautiful' doesn't really cover it!
Surprisingly, we found a tour company that met all our needs. Adam went for a scuba dive, Victor took an introduction to scuba diving course, Sheri snorkelled, and I hung out on the beach on the island. They fed us a great lunch and when we got back to town in mid afternoon we were all tired and happy!
